Communication Plan Free Essay

The Basics of Building Communication in Business

The effective communication plan is the key to the overall success of the project implementation. This is why I am going to pay a particular attention to the preparation of my communication plan for my project.  The first step of my communication plan is to identify my target audience. As the project focuses on the prevention of falls among elderly patients in Longhorn Village Nursing Home, I have to communicate my project to the administration of the nursing home, nurses and doctors working at the nursing home, and elderly patients in the nursing home.

The form of communication of the plan should differ depending on the specific target audience group. The administration and the nursing staff as well as doctors will need the written, carefully prepared plan of the project, the justification of the project and expected outcomes. Nurses and doctors may also need more communication on the project plan and personal meetings and communication will be helpful (Karlsson, Magnusson, von Schewelov, & Rosengren, 2013). Elderly patients will need personal meetings and communication too. The essence of the project should be explained to them in details in the course of face-to-face and group meetings with elderly patients.

The direct face-to-face communication is necessary, when there is obvious resistance to change and the lack of cooperation from the part of employees of the nursing home or elderly patients. Before introducing the project, all stakeholders should understand its purpose and support it that also requires the direct communication with the key stakeholders, including the administration of the nursing home, representatives of nurses, doctors, and patients (Kannus, Sievänen, Palvanen, Järvinen, & Parkkari, 2005). The poor communication may lead to the failure of the entire project because of the resistance to the change or simple refusal to get involved into the project, including training programs that can help to reduce the risk of falls and its effects.
