My Reflection On Online Learning

I realize that it is crucial for any graduate student to have an opportunity to “know thyself” through reflection and learning. My reflection on my own online learning experiences is based on assessment of my achievements and challenges. I have found that online learning is the best option for me because it provides massive opportunities for individual research work, provides flexible schedule and contribute to personal development through online communication (Song et al., 2004).

The way that I accomplished the set goal in the area of online learning is through my diligence and great effort. I used a variety of strategies to become successful, such as time management strategy, communication strategy, learning from academic sources strategy, stress management strategy and others. Besides, I paid attention to my motivation in the learning process, making efforts to improve it through recognition of the significance of personal achievements. One area of the course that I found particularly challenging was scholarly writing. I had to learn how to analyse information taken from  academic sources and how to draw conclusions.  I managed to overcome that challenge through application of my research skills that allowed finding valuable tools for scholarly writing.

Finally, there is a challenge I may anticipate in future courses, namely self-assessment. I need to learn how to assess my own abilities in order to set real goals and avoid heavy workload. I believe that I might address the challenge through effective planning and time management practices. My experience in this course can help me to achieve my academic and professional goals. According to experts, “goal setting is a planning process and is an important aspect of self-management” (Dembo, 2013, p. 101). Due to my personal experience in online learning, I have a chance to set achievable goals.

Hence, reflecting on my online learning experience in this course, I can conclude that it is necessary not only to utilize my personal experience, but also consider any future academic challenges in order to prevent negative outcomes.
