Save Our Environment Essay

Today in our busy world with marvelous technical gadgets, informative technologies, variety of activities and possibilities we hardly even think that nature around us is really important and ecological disaster is something we may face in the nearest future. Ecological problems are more serious and threatening than we can imagine.   Our generation has a tendency to consumption, not production: great areas of forests are cut every day, liters of water are used and wasted, tones of litter are thrown on the ground, air is rapidly polluted by dangerous factories and carbon dioxide from cars. Natural resources are not eternal and ecologists warn about the coming ecological collapse.

Do we really want our Earth to be destructed? I hope, no.  So we should find optimal solutions for the ecological problems. First of all, we may sort our litter more carefully: organic and not organic litter should be divided. There are dangerous kinds of litter, such as batteries, for example. They have dangerous chemicals – hard metals, for example, mercury. One battery pollutes about 20 m² of ground and 400 litters of water. We need to utilize batteries.  97% of the battery can be reused after recycling.

We all know that cars use petrol and then produce carbon dioxide and other dangerous gases and pollute the air. One car produces about 750 kg of toxic elements a year. Pollution from cars makes 70% of general air pollution. Today there’s an alternative for petrol cars. For example, gas cars contain 3-4 times less carbon dioxide than petrol cars. Electromobiles don’t  pollute the atmosphere at all.

We use one plastic bag for 20 minutes at it decomposes during 500 years! In nature there are no bacteria that decompose tins, plastic and glass. The only alternative to rubbish dumps is burning. It is very harmful for our health. What can we do? We can use paper bags for products. Use one plastic bag or bottle several times and not throw them. Use special containers for products (not plastic bags). Bring wastes into special centres.

To sum up, the ecological disaster can become a real obstacle for us very soon and impact every person. However, if we follow these easy rules listed above, we can save our environment and the Earth for future generations.
