The Advantages & Disadvantages Of Globalization Essay

Modern world exists and develops in the conditions, created by globalization. Globalization generally could be defined as the process of international integration and communication, which result in exchange of cultural and scientific ideas, economic conditions and products, political trends, etc. The image, which I chose, reflects most of the important aspects of globalization in my opinion. It is not symbolic, as many of the rest images are, however it provides the idea of the nature of globalization. In the center of the image there is out planet, as globalization is really spread to all countries of the world to this or that extent. With the help of schematic drawings there are briefly presented all the advantages and disadvantages of this process. This is not correct to think that globalization brings only positive outcomes to all countries of the world. For example such aspects as international terrorism or growth of monopoly power are also direct outcomes of globalization. Taking into consideration that globalization is so important for the modern world, there have been numerous studies of it conducted. Generally there were three main parts of globalization pointed out: economic globalization, political globalization and cultural globalization. “Cultural globalization refers to the transmission of ideas, meanings and values around the world in such a way as to extend and intensify social relations.” (Hopkins, 2004, p. 8). It is mentioned on this drawing directly. Political globalization is related to creation of nation states and international relations. It is reflected on the drawing with the help of some symbols. Finally economic globalization means cross-border economic relations in various spheres, it is shown on the picture with the help of compass. This picture is rather detailed in presenting the spheres of globalization in modern world, revealing negative and positive outcomes of this inevitable process.
