Biology: Science for life with physiology
Discussion responses unit five
Response 1
I strongly agree with the narrator because each existing organism is a link in some food-chain. Any change in the eco-system by introduction or exclusion of a specific link can cause significant changes or even destruction of it. This may also interrupt the other food chains existing in the particular area. Thus, certain plants, insects, small and middle-sized animals can become extinct forever. For this purpose, the people who plan the new introductions to the ecosystem have to investigate the other food chains, flora, and fauna existing in the area.
Response 2
As it has been previously discussed, biodiversity and its preservation plays a significant role in the maintaining of food chains existing in the eco-system. It is necessary to mention that maintaining of the system’s biodiversity is the guarantee of the economic stability and development of the region. Thus, the existing industries and habits of the locals are not stressed by the extinction or in some cases invasion of species. People can be involved in various businesses from production to tourism, and so on with no fear to lose that all.
