Emotional Response To The Performance Of Jazz Music Essay

My emotional response to the overall performance, including all four songs from this concert, is positive. I am really impressed by the expressive and emotional effects produced by performers. Yes, the overall performance is pleasing to me. I feel that all four songs encourage the audience to experience joy. I really appreciate the sense of community and the liveliness of performance situation that affects the audience’s response. Actually, there was something specific about the overall performance that I liked. For example, I liked the swing rhythm that characterizes jazz music and its lively style. There is nothing specific I did not like. No, I believe that there is no any way it could have been better. I am impressed by the jazz music experimentation I found in all four songs.  I particularly liked the song “Loverman” taken from Dizzy Gillespie’ 1958 Concert that was held in Belgium. The musician I liked most of all is Sonny Stitt (tenor sax, alto sax and vocal). He is a wonderful saxophone player. I saw how he blew into the instrument to produce amazing music. He played not only with passion, but also with frustration and restlessness. In general, this song creates a positive atmosphere and makes me feel satisfaction.

I enjoyed listening to the song “Blues After Dark”. Yes, the trumpet solo played by Dizzy Gillespie was successful. It produced the feeling of pleasure; therefore, my emotional response to it was positive. No, there is nothing I would change about it because the musician managed to express himself fully. He did a good job, demonstrating his musical skills and talent. As an experienced trumpet soloist, his performance could be assessed as perfect. He managed to make his trumpet talk due to the use of various techniques. In general, I liked the way he used his playing skills.
