To change the approaches to teaching, of course, it is important to pay a specific attention to the presence of a theoretical basis. It is necessary to turn to the methodological foundations and scientific prerequisites of this or that technology in order to organize its application at the proper level. In this regard, according to Bastable (2014), various forms of interaction with professional educators are being implemented, which ensure the integration of medical and pedagogical knowledge, both on a theoretical and on a practical level. Technologies of active learning are based not only on the processes of perception, memory and attention, but above all, on creative and productive thinking, proper behavior, and active communication. Naturally, the use of active technologies and teaching methods requires time and additional efforts of educators. Nevertheless, such an approach may bring good results. The students, who are taught with the use of active technologies and teaching methods, note their greater efficiency as compared with the traditional ones in terms of mastering the material, considering the multilateral aspects of a particular problem.

Living in the modern world, people get a huge flow of information, including the field of medical knowledge. Many nurse educators understand that traditional methods of teaching are insufficient in many situations. Considering a change in the education of healthcare, it is possible to note the technologies of active learning, which includes a case study technology. According to Levin & Feldman (2006), this technology includes many options for using this method to enhance students in the learning process. Moreover, case study technologies are of particular interest to nurse educators, since the range of methods for adult education is still limited, and, given the medical specifics, it is even more narrowed than people can imagine. Case studies, as an improved version of situational tasks, have always been used in medical didactics. Different medical cases are considered as not just a truthful description of events, but as a single information complex, which allows to understand the situation. In such a way, a competently made case provokes a discussion, tying learners to real facts, as well as allows students to simulate a real problem that they may have to face in practice.
