The Impact Of Human For The Deterioration Of The Natural Environment On Puget Sound Essay

At the moment, the negative impact of human activities on the natural environment has become obvious since the global climate change leads to irrevocable changes in the natural environment at the global and local level. At this point, it is possible to refer to the case of Puget Sound, where the impact of human activities are particularly significant and affect not only the biodiversity of the sound but also the development of local communities.

One of the main issues, which Puget Sound confronts at the moment, is the decrease of the biodiversity. In this regard, one of the main issues is the reduction of the Orca Whale and Ratfish population in the Sound. Orca facts prove a considerable decline in the number of whales and ratfish in Puget Sound that affects other species in the area. As a result, the reduction of biodiversity results in the slow disappearance of the life in Puget Sound.

Another problem, Puget Sound confronts is the pollution of the Sound with Carbon Dioxide. This is another important issue because the pollution leads to the reduction of biodiversity. In this regard, it is also worth mentioning Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons as another main source of the Sound pollution. In addition, Effects of Human Interaction Pollutant’s (PCBs and PBDE) also contribute to the pollution of Puget Sound. This is why human development has a destructive impact on the development of Puget Sound. In fact, the impact of mankind on the Sound is determinant because human activities are the major drivers of changes in the natural environment. This is why human activities lead to the destruction of Puget Sound and the deterioration of its negative effects.

In such a situation, the resolution of current problems should involve the elimination of the major causes of the Sound pollution. To put it more precisely, human activities are the major drivers of negative changes in the environmental situation in Puget Sound (Thrush, 2007). Therefore, the change in human activities in the local area can lead to positive changes and decrease the negative impact of human activities on the environment. However, the problem of the further human development in the area emerges. Human development requires the use of natural resources because the growth of human activities leads to the pollution of the environment. As a reduction, human development leads to the pollution of the natural environment.

Hence, the local community faces the dilemma: either to slow down human development or to continue the further development but increase the environment pollution. However, in a long run perspective, the pollution of the environment will eventually lead to the negative impact on human development in the local community. The pollution of the environment leads to the deterioration of the quality of life (Thrush, 2007). Therefore, the change of human activities and human development in the area is essential for the prevention of the further deterioration of the natural environment and human development. In other words, local community members should refuse from activities, which lead to the pollution of the Sound to prevent the further destruction of the natural environment and socioeconomic decline of the local community.

Thus, at the moment, Puget Sound faces the problem of irrevocable environmental changes. The major issue in the area is human activities that lead to the deterioration of the natural environment.
