Why Does Earth Have Weather & Seasons?

Speaking of why Earth has weather and seasons, one should pay attention to each part of the question since the reasons are different. First of all, as for the first part, Earth has weather because it is subject to a number of external and internal forces. The major external force is Sun which primarily affects our planet is terms of heat, warming up some areas. Another significant influence is Moon – it is responsible for tides. Moreover, the shape of Earth is not perfectly symmetrical which results in the situation when some areas are more affected than the other. One should not also forget about the titled axis of the planet. All this results in various natural phenomena such as wind or rain. Therefore, Earth has weather because the influence of numerous external and internal factors is constantly changing.

As for the season, it is worth pointing out that there are five major reasons to be mentioned. They are revolution of the planet, rotation of the planet, titled axis, axial parallelism, and sphericity of Earth (Christopherson 52). It is crucial to distinguish between revolution and rotation. Thus, Earth revolves around Sun, but it rotates around its own axis. The difference is that the path along which Earth revolves is not ideally round which means that at different times of the year the planet is closer or further from Sun. As it has been mentioned before, the axis of Earth is slightly tilted which means that the heat from the sun is not distributed evenly. Axial parallelism is manifested in that fact that the stars have fixed positions if observed from a particular location. Finally, Earth has a spheroid shape which means that some areas of it are closer to Sun than others. The combination of all these factors resulted in the emergence of seasons.
