Illegal Immigration

Detailed Outline on Illegal Immigration

  1. Introduction

Illegal immigration is one of the issues of public concern in the USA. In fact, the US immigration system is broken because many employers violate the rules and regulations of the system when they hire undocumented workers. As a result, “there are 11 million people living in the shadows” in the USA (Creating an Immigration System for the 21st Century). Undoubtedly, this situation is neither good for the US economy or the country in general. It has been found that if the immigration reform would pass this year, it would help to boost the Nation’s Economic Growth about “33 percent in 2023 and in 2033 it would grow 54 percent which is about $1.4 Trillion dollars” (Creating an Immigration System for the 21st Century).

The USA can be defined as “a nation of immigrants”, a nation that welcomes those people who have a great desire to “embrace America’s ideals and America’s precepts”, according to the President Obama (Remarks by the President on Comprehensive Immigration Reform in El Paso, Texas). It is true that millions of people who came to the USA from all parts of the world managed to build a new life there. The Asian immigrants, the German and Scandinavians, the Irish, Italian, Polish, Russian, and Jewish immigrants and others contributed to the development of the American society and helped to make this country stronger, more powerful and prosperous. Illegal immigration is an issue of public concern. Undoubtedly, it should be solved in a proper way.

Thesis statement: President Obama’s comprehensive immigration reform could contribute to the development of the country and the nation, providing certain benefits to immigrants, foreign companies, the US economic system, social security and the housing market.

Illegal immigration is a burden on our wallet and population. Unfortunately, it is true and the annual costs of illegal immigration is a total of $113 Billion to our Nation’s taxpayers with the proposal to allow permanent access to U.S jobs. Keeping current U.S citizens from getting jobs because they are often paid less but eliminating those who may have a degree asking for more money. Companies hire illegal workers making more profits while other companies only hire legal workers making less profit having to compete with other companies forcing most companies to go out of business.

Actually, social security could become much stronger due to the positive changes in the economic system and the program’s trust fund.
