Discussion Of The Importance Of Interaction Between Emergency Services

The interaction between emergency services is essential for the delivery of effective emergency services to the population that is vulnerable to serious socioeconomic problems (Harvard, 2004). In this regard, the interagency cooperation between the police and fire department can help to minimize risks in poverty-stricken communities associated with accidents, such as fire.

The interagency cooperation between the police and fire department should focus on the identification of risk groups and provision them with information about safe use of flammable substances and equipment that is the task of the fire department. At the same time, there are cases, when fires occur because of illegal actions and the interaction between the police and fire department is essential. For example, there are cases of arson, when people attempt to cheat on insurance companies to earn some money and use arson as the tool to obtain compensations from insurance companies (Baumeister, 2012). In this regard, the fire department should interact not only with insurance companies to help them to investigate cases of arson effectively, but also the fire department should interact with the police. The department should inform the police about suspicious cases of fire or arsons, while the police should investigate such cases in details. In such a way, the police may reveal cases of arsons. Moreover, such investigation driven by the report of the fire department may help the police to investigate crimes successfully because often criminals set fire to hide their crime, like murder, for example.

Hence, the interaction between the police and fire department may be very helpful, especially in poverty-stricken communities, where crime rates are traditionally higher compared to the average national crime rate.
