Personal Essay of a Future Psychologist
Since my childhood, I knew I have to devote my life to serve people. I always wanted to make this world better. I believe that people’s problems come from the inside. After my graduation from school, I plan to get a degree in psychology to be able to implement my mission in future. I also want to become a nurse as I realize that it is rather boring to sit in an office and listen to people’s problems. Moreover, as a psychologists I will be disabled to actively participate in their decision making process. I can only help them find a right way, and nothing else. I also realize that becoming a nurse will help me bring more usefulness to my community. From my point of view, professions of a nurse and a doctor are the most important, as all the people need to be healthy to live high-grade lives. There is no person whom I know, who likes to be sick. People value healthcare givers and appreciate their work.
Moreover, my life and lives of my family members have changed greatly a few months ago. Those events made me understand the importance of nurse’s profession most sharply. My relative faced a serious health problem. This period of life, when I experienced a need in struggle to help my parents taking care of him while he was sick both at home and in the hospital, has turned my world up-side-down. The diagnosis was shocking for all of us. I was spending time with him while he were sick at the hospital. I watched the nurses, that provided support and helped us to get through difficult times. And that is one of the most important reasons I want to pursue a degree in nursing after graduating from the high school. I want to learn how to act in normal and urgent situations, how to make a patient healthy again by giving them injections, and other manipulations.
