Police Technology Essay

Technology makes a powerful impact on human life, work, interactions, relationships and functioning, both in personal and professional spheres. In criminology, innovative tech tools and gargets significantly help professional to determine inappropriate behaviors or violation of social rules and norms, collect evidence and make effective investigations. When it comes to traffic violation, technology like video cameras and other similar tech tools and gargets can provide police officers with multiple advantages in determining any kind of violation. There are a number of benefits of equipping a police car with a video camera on the dashboard. Cameras can serve like a protection both to police officers and the victims. The Bible says: “But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses” (Matthew 18:16). But if witnesses are not enough, video cameras can “provide more reliable evidence than eyewitness accounts” (Lin, 2016, p. 346). Dash cameras can collect unique unnoticed evidence, traces, and signs that the police offices, judges, and the court can use in their further investigation. Dash cameras can tell the absolute truth about what happened. Equipping a police car with a camera on the dashboard can help to determine the person’s behaviors and reaction about stopping by the police, as well as determine the police officer’s manner of speaking and attitudes to a person in some situations. Dashboard cameras can determine whether the police officer acts according to the ethics, religious concepts, and moral principles. For example, if a person complains about police brutality and violent actions, dash cameras can clarify the situation and provide strong evidence about what happened, including police behaviors, actions, and manner of speaking at that moment.
