The author focuses on the broad group of clients which can receive the therapy based on either psychoanalysis or Adlerian psychotherapy. At the same time, the treatment of patients with different psychological problems, like anxiety, depression, and other issues. Similarly, Adlerian psychotherapy aims at helping clients with different problems. The point of each theory is to create a positive view of clients on their present either through the solution of their past problems and suppression of negative desires of their subconscious in terms of psychoanalysis or through the enhancement of optimism and creation of a positive worldview with regard to future of patients in terms of Adlerian psychotherapy. Both theories studied by the researcher are equally important and the researcher does not take sides in the support of either theory. Instead, he depicts their strengths and weaknesses and practitioners can choose the most suitable theory for them.

Thus, D. Wedding conducts the study of psychoanalysis and Adlerian psychotherapy and evaluates each approach critically to help readers to determine strengths and weaknesses of each approach.
