Eco Tourism Term Paper

The eco-friendly tourism culture is an important component of environmental reserves and national parks. Its distinguishing feature compared with other types of tourism is known as a socio-economic orientation. Properly organized activities for the development of such tourism can give new economic opportunities, and thus, occupy an important place in the economy of the regions. The load on natural ecosystems is constantly increasing in direct proportion to the growth rate of tourist visits. In this case, a contradiction between the satisfaction of tourism demand and the rational use of tourist resources becomes apparent. The question of using eco-tourism concepts, signs of which is to introduce visitors to the natural values, ecological education and training of people, while ensuring a minimal impact on the environment becomes relevant.

The eco-friendly tourism culture includes visits to ecologically clean areas (parks, reserves, botanical gardens, national parks) and the hotel market that should be taken into consideration when it comes to the eco-green culture.

The hospitality industry is an integral part of the tourist industry and the hotel industry. Hospitality develops within the hospitality industry. The objects of the hotel industry are the accommodation facilities. They include different facilities that can provide visitors (customers) with various accommodation services.

The main element of the accommodation facilities is the hotel itself. It is an organization of collective tourist accommodation facilities that provides residence and services required.

Hotel business, being one of the economic activities, directly or indirectly creates jobs and is an important means to replenish the foreign exchange coffers. The development process of new concepts of the hotel industry and the modernization of old ones is constantly going on in the world.

There is no doubt that tourism has a great influence on the development of hotel business. Every hotel’s owner says that tourism is a wonderful thing, because it attracts guests in the hotel and restaurant. In fact, tourism is a dynamic, growing, consumer-oriented phenomenon. It is the largest industry in the world.

China aims to take a leading position in the hospitality and tourism business. Knowing the Chinese government’s approach to the undertakings of this kind, the majority of specialists in the hotel business recognize that there are all prerequisites for this development. To date, China has more than 660 five-star hotels and 500 hotels, which are in the stage of development of their business to the five-star level, or in anticipation of its acceptance. Many large international hotel industry representatives recently announced the development plans in China, and not only in big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou or in other cities, but also in small ones.

The background of the active development of the hotel business in China and Taipei

Firstly, it promotes the growth of demand for hotel services, which accumulates the flow of aspiring business people in China, making their business in China and establishing new business contacts.

With advanced knowledge in key global trends, the designer implements them in design projects for commercial enterprises. Basic documentation is developed based on extensive primary material obtained from the customer.

Secondly, China has a number of climate resort areas located mainly in the south and the east coast of China that are attractive for the development of hotel business. Holidays in China has one distinct advantage – the democratic prices. And the price of the tour plays, you see, an important role when choosing a country to which tourists go.

And thirdly, it is the government’s support, including the development of hotel business in the list of priority directions of development of the Chinese economy. The presence of a favorable investment climate, warmed by cheap labor and low-cost construction, hotel equipment and supplies for the hotel industry to a large extent contribute to the arrival on the market of world-class players.

One of the largest international hotel operator known as InterContinental Hotels Group in China has more than 200 hotel properties. In turn, Hilton plans to increase the number of its hotels to more than 100 units. Marriott, widely known as a hotel operator,  does not lag behind competitors, and thus plans to open a number of hotels and bring its presence in the Chinese market to more than 125 hotels.

In the modern era originality itself is encouraged and prosecuted by everyone. Due to this fact many continue to look for new ways to surprise the tourists and visitors. The modern post-industrial society, in spite of the global financial crisis, and, in part, because of it, continues to rethink their relationship with the environment. Reduction of mining and reducing the consumption of resources, increasing the share of renewable energy – these are the main features of the transition from an anthropocentric thought patterns to a green model.

The main differences are the eco-hotels from other hotels lie in the fact that environmental hotels are mostly located in protected natural areas. Eco-hotels operate on the principle of harmoniously with nature, without polluting the environment products tourist activity.

Today, more people are turning to travel agencies with a request to book a room at the ecological hotel. Until now, prices for accommodation in eco-hotels are far cheaper. This is due to the special requirements to be met by the hotel during construction and operation.

Many eco-hotels are huts or houses built by the indigenous tribes of the technology found in a particular conservation area. Widespread eco- hotels received in Oceania and Central America. Eco – hotels are often located in the jungle, where the presence of a person is still considered to be rare.

Amenities in many eco- hotels are minimal: a bed or a hammock, a table, a couple of armchairs. As a rule, all the furniture in the room is made of ecological hotels local natural materials such as stone or wood.

Environmental education that hotels offer for guests is among the additional eco-friendly services. Guests are trained to recognize the kinds of local plants and animals, teach methods for reducing harmful personal impacts on the environment. The main feature that distinguishes the hotel with the prefix “eco” from its competitors is often that they are located in protected natural areas with the legal restrictions on the type of building, number of floors, etc., and operate on the principle of harmoniously with nature without polluting environmental products tourist activity. Nevertheless, even in large metropolitan areas, there are objects of the hotel business, offering its guests a 100 % clean water, food “organic” category and only natural materials and finishes available.

Dining at the ecological hotel often repeats the local traditions. If the hotel is located on the territory of the African savannah, its guests will be offered to local treats: couscous, porridge made of artichoke, milk buffalo. The kitchen of the hotel in the Siberian taiga would include products such as pine nuts, fish and game. Some eco- hotels and offer a pretty extreme way to leave, when the lodger must be on their own to earn their living.

Eco – hotels are not just hotels, created in harmony with nature. In the world there are some unusual hotels that have been built using only recycled materials.

In Shanxi Province in China there is an amazing eco-friendly hotel Xiangxi Fangxiang, built from recycled shipping containers. Earlier similar containers were settled by mostly asocial elements and outcasts, but now they are the original architectural solutions.

This hotel is constructed out of 35 sea containers, and this fact alone is already amazing. It has 21 rooms, among which there are places increased comfort. It is important to note that this place meets all the tourist laws and is a convenient place to visit and accommodate.

Each room has two double beds, which are for the original double doors. In general, there are focuses on the comfort of visitors. As the hotel is located in a park area, all have the opportunity to sit on the patio and enjoy the views of nature. Thus, this amazing place is a comfortable and user-friendly eco-hotel named as Xiangxiangxiang constructed with the help of non-standard materials. And that is what gives it the appearance of an entertaining, making it unlike any other place of residence. The problem of air pollution in China is today perhaps the most serious, and its resolution of the Chinese leadership sends a very serious effort. Green Air Hotels, with its successful implementation will allow to make a contribution to the improvement of the ecological situation in the country, simultaneously creating a unique eco- hotel chain.

In its concept, it will remind apartments from THE LOFT, which is also characterized by a harmonious union of the location in the heart of the metropolis with the advantages of suburban housing in the ecologically clean territories.

Currently Truong and Woolverton as a place for experimentation have chosen one of the abandoned hotels near Shanghai, on the basis of which the selected plants are best suited for the tasks. The initiators of the project landed in its premises a number of different seedlings, and by the end of this work, they need to identify those plants that have air condition in certain conditions, the most beneficial effect. According to Li Hong, the experiment will last not more than a year, after which the project will enter the stage of practical implementation. As long as the entrepreneur does not decide where it will be cost of the hotel network Green Air Hotels, but the first phase will mainly be a question of finding investors.

Hence, based on this information, it is possible to say that there are three main ideas on how to introduce this eco-green culture to China and Taiwan.

In order to introduce eco-green culture to China and Taiwan, it is important to pay specific attention to the implementation of different design ideas, that is to build eco-friendly facilities for guests around the world. In addition, the governmental authorities should take all the possible efforts to introduce and implement those programs. One of the most effective tools of environmental management is the introduction of environmental standards in the production processes, end products and services. Hotels, especially large ones, consume a considerable amount of resources to provide a high level of service and quality of service. In addition to the consumption of water, electricity and waste subject to disposal and recycling, hotels use large amounts of chemicals and individual commodities. Therefore, in the past decade, environmental safety standards of hotels have begun to actively develop worldwide.

Thus, taking the above-mentioned information into consideration, it is possible to draw a conclusion that China has no shortage of hotels or rooms in them. In most major cities in the country hotels of almost all leading international players in the hospitality industry were opened over the past two decades. Over the last years, Chinese tourists were the most active in the world, and thus, rank the first positions in the hotel market. Experts note that the expansion of China’s hotel industry contributes to the active development of trade relations.
