The Research of the Improvement of the Nursing Care

The key stakeholders involved in the research of the improvement of the nursing care through the wider use of technology, including electronic health records involves a wide range of professionals as well as patients. In this regard, it is possible to distinguish three major groups of stakeholders that are directly involved in the problem that is researched, including health care professionals, IT professionals and patients.

Health care professionals work with patients and they will use electronic health records in their regular work. Therefore, the effectiveness and possible impact of electronic health records will involve health care professionals directly. Hence, their opinion about electronic health records is important to determine whether the contemporary health care system is ready for the wide introduction of electronic health records and what problems the system confronts.

IT professionals will work on the development and maintenance of electronic health records and the protection of data from unauthorized access. In fact, electronic health records are products created by IT professionals in the close interaction with health care professionals. Therefore, they should elaborate technologies that are essential for the stable functioning and maintenance of electronic health records. In such a situation, the involvement of IT professionals in the study is essential.

Finally, patients are probably the most important stakeholders because it is their private information will be stored in electronic health records. Their position is also important in regard to the wider introduction of electronic health records in the contemporary health care system. For instance, patients may oppose to electronic health records being concerned with privacy issues.

Thus, the study will focus on three groups of stakeholders: health care professionals, IT professionals and patients.
