Tips on Writing a Good Essay

Writing a successful essay at the university level is very challenging but still possible, if one makes enough efforts to complete the essay and conduct the study of the topic covered in the essay. At this point, I can refer to my personal experience of writing an essay on advantage benefit in market, where I did my best to conduct the research in the field of marketing to find out factors influencing the advantage benefit in marketing and to present my findings in the coherent way. In spite of challenges that I have confronted, while writing the essay, it seems to me I have managed to write a good essay and expand my writing skills.

Before writing the essay, I have started with the collection of materials, which I could use in the essay and which could help me to understand the issue I was going to write about. At this stage, the first challenge emerged. In fact, I had to determine, where to find reliable resources that I can use in my essay. On the one hand, having access to internet, I found a lot of information on the issue but our professor told that resources should be reliable and valid. This is why I decided that news media and other resources may be not the best choice in case of writing the essay at the university level. Instead, I decided to focus on journal articles mainly and used my university library and other databases offering access to journal articles, such as Jstor, for example.

As I collected the information on advantage benefit in marketing, I decided to organize the information I have learned in the logical way. Hence, I created the plan of my essay and introduced transitions to make my ideas flow smoothly throughout the essay. The coverage of the main material of the essay was preceded by introduction, where I presented the issue and revealed its important concluding the introduction paragraph with the thesis statement which I further backed up in body paragraphs of the essay. The body of the essay contained the presentation of key findings that I have made in the course of studying literature related to the issue I was investigating. Finally, I completed the essay with the concluding paragraph, where I summarized key findings, and restated the thesis statement.

As my essay was completed, I re-read and revised the essay, editing it where necessary. During the revision, I have noticed several points and errors which I corrected to make my essay more coherent and accurate. At the same time, the revision-editing activity helped me to view my essay from the standpoint of the reader. Thus, I introduced changes which made my essay more plausible and matching the university level.

In fact, the experience of writing the essay at the university level has proved to be very important for me because I have found effective ways to conduct the research of various sources identifying reliable ones, which were trustworthy. At the same time, my work on the essay was grounded on the clear plan, which shaped the framework of my essay and helped me to present my findings in the clear, coherent and accurate way. On the other hand, the use of transitions and further revision and editing activities allowed me to ‘polish’ the essay to match the university level.
